1. Who we are

Van Ryt Industries Pty Ltd is an Australian company that designs, manufactures and installs commercial timber playground equipment. Our office and workshop are at 8 Adams Street, O’Connor, Western Australia 6163.

We sell products and services to customers across Australia through our website, online store and direct enquiries.

2. What personal information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us. We generally collect:

Information you give us directly

  • Enquiry forms and consultations — your name, email address, phone number, business or organisation name, project type, location (state), project timing, and any details you choose to include in your message.
  • Online store orders — your first and last name, billing address, shipping address (which may be different), suburb, state, postcode, country, email address, phone number, optional company name, and order notes.
  • Payment details — your credit card information when you place an online order. This is collected and processed directly by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers on our website or systems.
  • In-person payments — when you pay in person at our workshop, we use a Square card reader. Square processes the card details directly; we do not store them.
  • Newsletter signup — if you tick the newsletter checkbox at checkout, we collect your email address to send you occasional updates about our products and projects. We are not currently sending newsletters but may do so in the future.
  • Account information — if you create an account on our online store, your username, password (encrypted), order history and saved addresses.
  • Google Ads lead forms — if you fill out one of our lead forms shown in a Google search ad, your name, email, phone, project type, Australian state and project timing.

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device to help them function and to collect information about how you use them. We use cookies and similar technologies on our website.

Types of cookies we use

  • Essential cookies — needed for the website to work, including your shopping cart, checkout process and account login. The site cannot function properly without these.
  • Performance and analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4 helps us understand how visitors use our site. The data is anonymous and aggregated.
  • Advertising cookies — Google Ads, Meta Pixel and LinkedIn Insight Tag help us measure the effectiveness of our advertising and show relevant ads to people who have visited our site.
  • Spam prevention — Google reCAPTCHA helps protect our enquiry forms from spam and abuse.

Managing cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your web browser settings. Most browsers let you block cookies, delete existing ones, or notify you when a new cookie is set. Disabling cookies may affect your ability to use parts of our website (for example, the online store).

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

You can manage advertising preferences through adssettings.google.com and facebook.com/adpreferences.

8. Overseas data storage

Some of the service providers listed in Section 6 are based outside Australia. This means your personal information may be sent to, stored in or accessed from countries including the United States.

When we share your information with these overseas providers, we take reasonable steps to make sure they handle it in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles. This usually involves contractual safeguards that require them to protect your information.

By using our website or providing your information to us, you consent to this overseas transfer.

9. How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by Australian law.

  • Enquiry information — kept for up to 3 years from your last contact with us, unless we are working on an active project for you.
  • Customer accounts and order history — kept for as long as your account is active. We keep transaction records for at least 7 years to comply with Australian tax and corporate record-keeping obligations.
  • Newsletter subscribers — kept until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days.
  • Lead form submissions — kept for up to 24 months unless we are actively working with you on a project.
  • Website analytics — Google Analytics data is retained for the default period of 26 months and is anonymised.

When we no longer need your personal information, we either delete it or anonymise it so that it can no longer identify you.

10. How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include:

  • Storing data with reputable service providers that meet recognised security standards
  • Using SSL/HTTPS encryption across our website

  • Using strong passwords and multi-factor authentication on key accounts
  • Keeping software, plugins and security patches up to date
  • Maintaining cyber insurance to support our response if a significant incident occurs

No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information using current industry practices.

11. Data breach response

If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm to people whose information we hold, we will:

  • Take immediate steps to contain and investigate the breach
  • Notify affected individuals as soon as practical
  • Notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme
  • Take action to prevent similar breaches in the future

12. Your privacy rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct — ask us to update information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date
  • Delete — ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, where we are not legally required to keep it
  • Opt out — withdraw your consent for direct marketing at any time
  • Anonymity — interact with us anonymously or using a pseudonym where it is lawful and practical
  • Complain — raise a privacy complaint with us, or with the OAIC if you are not satisfied with our response

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 16. We will respond to your request within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.

We may ask you to verify your identity before we provide access to or change your personal information. This is to protect you from unauthorised changes.

13. Direct marketing and opt-out

We only send marketing communications to people who have opted in (for example, by ticking the newsletter checkbox at checkout, or by giving us permission directly).

You can unsubscribe from any marketing email by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email, or by contacting us directly. We will remove you from our marketing list within 30 days.

Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional communications such as order confirmations, shipping updates or replies to your enquiries.

14. Children’s privacy

Our products are designed for children to play on, but our website and online store are aimed at adult buyers — councils, schools, hospitality venues, landscape architects and parents.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a child has provided us with their personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
